How to check if your voters card is valid
The Voters Card Validation Portal provides two methods for checking the validity of your voter’s card: using your Voters Identification Number (VIN) or using your personal details such as your name and date of birth.
Using Name and Date of Birth
Follow these steps to check if your voter’s card is valid using your name and date of birth:
- Open the Voters Card Validation Portal in your browser by clicking on the link https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/vvs.
- On the webpage, ensure the drop-down form “Check Status Using Your Name & Date of Birth” is opened. If not, click on the blue + sign to expand the form.
- Fill in the required information:
- Select your State of Registration.
- Choose your Local Government of Registration.
- Enter your Last Name (surname or family name).
- Enter your First Name.
- Select your Date of Birth (day, month, and year).
- Click on the Security Check checkbox and complete the reCAPTCHA challenge.
- Click the green “Check Status” button.
If your voter’s card is valid, a table displaying your name, Voter Identification Number (VIN), State, Local Government Area, Registration Area (Ward), Polling Unit, and Polling Unit Code will appear. Congratulations!
To get directions to your polling unit, click the “Get Directions” button at the bottom of the details. This will open the location on your mobile phone’s map.
If your voter’s card is not valid, you’ll see the message “Voter Not Found.” Ensure you provided the correct details and try again.

Using VIN
To verify the validity of your voter’s card using your Voters Identification Number (VIN), follow these steps:
- Visit the Voters Card Validation Portal on your browser by clicking on the link https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/vvs.
- On the webpage, scroll down and click on the + sign next to “Check Status Using VIN” to expand the form.
- Fill in the required details:
- Select your State of Registration.
- Choose your Local Government of Registration.
- Enter your Last Name (surname or family name).
- Enter your full VIN or the last 5 digits of your VIN.
- Click on the Security Check checkbox next to “I am not a robot” and complete the reCAPTCHA challenge.
- Click the green “Check Status” button to confirm the validity of your voter’s card.
If your voter’s card is valid, the portal will display a table with information such as your name, Voter Identification Number (VIN), State, Local Government Area, Registration Area (Ward), Polling Unit, and Polling Unit Code. Congratulations!
If you encounter any issues or do not receive a positive result, you can contact the INEC Citizens Contact Centre (ICCC) at 0700-2255-4632 to speak with someone and address any concerns.
